Paramount Pictures returns to the little horror film that cost $15,000 and made an astounding 107 million at the box office; and is reminiscent of the success of The Blurry, er Blair Witch Project back in 1999. Subsequently, like every successful horror film, the studio ends up going back to the well (and more-often-than-not) way too many times and the franchise ends up dieing a fate worse than anything shown on-screen.
While not much is known yet regarding the plot of this film, it seems that the media surrounding this film is getting more buzz than any plot spoilers. ie: This trailer was released on June 30th with The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and apparently scared the kiddies so much that Paramount has had to pull it from Eclipse…and earlier this year Kevin Greutert, director of Saw VI signed to direct Paranormal Activity 2, but when producers of the Saw franchise heard this, they immediately exercised a contractual obligation for him to direct Saw VII and he had to walk away and in turn publicly aired his grievance on FB, Twitter and the media.
I am a Canadian First Nations writer of screenplays and teleplays, journalist & film critic. I first got into writing movie reviews a couple of years ago while I was living in the Canadian Rockies and was approached by the editor of Jasper’s only independent publication, The Fitzhugh to contribute a series of reviews in the summer of 2007, as “Dr. Philm“.
I am also a very recent addition & blog column journalist with The Vancouver Observer http://www.vancouverobserver.com/ where I write articles focusing on first nations issues.
I love movies of all kinds, no matter the genre, length, subject matter, colour, B&W, or creed. I think in visual terms and have been often called a dreamer. .
I encourage comments about my blog and will respond to any and all. Cheers!
